OVERALL ASSESSMENT
from the Shift Review Panel
This booklet is recommended as a valuable and easy-to-use guide for employees experiencing mental distress and wishing to remain in or return to work. Its format, layout, language and style make it very accessible.
It could also be a useful resource for employers to be able to give to employees who have mental health problems. For this audience, however, it might be over-long and it would help to be able to select relevant areas more easily through section headings and index.
The contents are factually correct and evidence based and covers not only the usual themes of mental health in the workplace, but also more personal information such as managing your finances, training, putting your CV together, self employment, and ways to look after your mental well being.
Altogether this is a highly practical resource (for example, there is a budgeting table at the back to record weekly/monthly income and expenditure).
