Nursing care facility opening in North Somerset
Added on: 29th March 2010 at 14:43 by Rachel Baker
A new 30-bed nursing care facility is opening at the heart of Sandford Station retirement village in June 2010. Our specialist team of staff are getting ready to welcome new residents into Sherwood, which will provide 24-hour general needs nursing care in an open and airy environment. Sherwood is located in beautiful countryside where each room offers views of the surrounding hills and fields. With the emphasis on promoting a warm and inclusive atmosphere, the building has been designed to ensure there are light and welcoming living areas. The physical environment is designed to reduce restrictive features such as long corridors and instead the environment promotes opportunities for residents to interact with one-another in a positive environment. Fully equipped with specialist facilities, staff are on hand around the clock to ensure that everyone feels welcome, comfortable and at home.
Already a provider of ‘Excellent' rated nursing care in Bristol, the charity behind this development, the St Monica Trust, knows exactly how to respond to ensure that people are valued and treated with dignity, respect and care. Sherwood will offer many benefits and specialist features:
- En-suite rooms with panoramic views and direct access into the gardens.
- Privacy and freedom of choice to participate in the daily life of the home in a way which maximises the capabilities of individuals.
- Regular specialist multi-disciplinary input to the clinical care provision from GPs, physiotherapist and dietician (with other therapies available).
- An activities coordinator and pastoral care coordinator complement the team, promoting the opportunities for individuals to engage in a meaningful and appropriate manner.
- Access to the facilities in the immediate village including a restaurant, shop, library and computer room, leisure pool and bowling green.
- Well-trained and supervised staff are offered comprehensive opportunities for induction and ongoing professional development.
